The railway sector in India is as big as it can get in a country which is full of skilled as well as unskilled potential of workers. The population in India is sufficient enough to allow many people wishing to work for the railway department, to take up a job of their interest and in accordance to their qualification.

This is a sector where people from the minimal of educational qualification to those holding multiple degrees can find a job suitable for them. So finding the jobs in the railway department of the country is never a problem. This quest has been made easier with publication of advertisements of jobs from different zones.

Being such a vast country, the railways are divided into different sections as per the area which is covered and catered to, by the trains. In total, in India, there are 16 zones spread across the length and breadth of the country. Each of these zones is responsible for the recruitment process, while some of the jobs can also be provided by the local stations or junctions.

For the permanent jobs, the zonal head offices in the designated cities are responsible, starting from the advertisements to the recruitment postings. With so many zones, it is obvious that there would be publication of job advertisements at regular intervals, which is actually also the case. This gives the opportunities of people residing in the zonal areas to apply for the said jobs whenever published. And these publications are at very regular intervals and quite frequent.

Railway department conducts direct recruitment at the level of Class I and Class II officers through the Union Public Service Commission. The Staff Selection Commission is an entrance test conducted by the ministry of railways to recruit for the posts of Assistant, Stenographers, and clerks. The rest of the recruitment to the posts of Class III employees is done through the respective departments of the railways through different competitive exams by the respective railway recruitment boards which are located at 19 important towns.

All these jobs in the railways departments are advertised completely through the employment news and various other leading newspapers of the country. The Class IV employees can be recruited through the local stations and can also be of the contractual types. The best part of the railway recruitment drive is the large number of posts that are published at one go, which can extend to up to some thousands of posts of the same job. Also, people having reservation benefits are advantaged as every publication of jobs is sure to have a number of posts reserved for them.

With many employees set to retire in the coming years, employment drive to recruit new people would be done which can allow many people to get jobs in different classes. The jobs in railway departments were always of interest for the people of India with its assurances of stability as well as longevity. The rules governing the central government jobs are the best with respect to any other in the country and people craving for railway jobs is an obvious conclusion.
