    Running

Running is one of the best fat burning exercises there is, But for martial artist it’s important for many other reasons. Running allows us to last longer in fights, Teaches us how to breath under strenuous conditions. It’s one of the reason way a boxer can go ten rounds with out dropping to his knees.

One of the best times to run is in the morning. It wakes you up, get’s your heart racing, and puts you in a better mood for the day. However stopping your self from hitting the snooze button takes commitment.

    Jumping Jacks

Jumping Jacks are pretty much a full body workout. Like running they help build cardio allowing fighters to go longer in a fight. They are also a great warm up exercise. Do them before you run and it will make it a little easier, but don’t over do it.

    Jump Rope

One of the best fat burning exercises out there is Jump Roping. This exercise can burn up 20 calories a minute depending how fast you go. It builds up your cardio just like the other three, but they have another important purpose. Jump rope also teaches foot work and movement. Oh did I mention it is also a really great warm up tool as well.

    Jumping Squat

These involve you doing a squat, but on the way up you jump thrust all your weight in the air. Yes this is a ok cardio work out, but it also great for building your legs, and the rest of your lower body.

The core muscles are very important to martial artist and exercises like this help. Do these and you will see a increase in over all power in your strikes.

    Squat thrust

This does the same as the Jumping Squat as far as work out goes. Squat thrust is something that should be done properly though other wise you can do more damage then good. Although a trainer of sorts is best you can also learn from video sites like you tube.

    Explosive pushup

Pushups are great for the chest, arms, and shoulders. But Explosive pushup are even better. Like the Jumping Squat this exercise takes a already good exercise and makes it better by throwing a jump at the end.

To start just get into pushup position. Lower your body just like a normal Pushup but on the way up thrust your weight off the ground. Although explosive pushup are not hard I still have to recommend that you at least look up a video or two.

There are tons of exercises a good martial artist should do. A teacher of sorts is the best way to learn of them. However I also look them up on you tube. When deciding which ones you should learn use a little common sense. If it looks like it can’t help you then the chances are you don’t need to do it.
