The armed forces has about seven main dog breeds that it uses for guards, tracking criminals, finding bombs and drugs, and tracking down evidence.     German Shepherd

    German Shepherd dogs are well known for being loyal, brave and intelligent. It was these Characteristics that lead to it's employment as a guard dog in world war two. The German Shepherd was one of seven preferred breeds of dogs used by the military as guard dogs. From there on the German Shepherd would become one of the most renown dog breeds ever. They are still currently used over seas and right here at home by law inforcement everywhere as trackers, bomb dogs, and guard dogs.

    Rottweiler

    Rottweilers are beast when it comes to being a big dog. They can weight up to 165 pounds and 3 feet in height. However despite it's size and look they are really intelligent and pretty friendly dogs.

    Around 1901 the breed found favor as a police dog. Like the German Shepherd it to was used in wars including world war one and two. Today because of it's brains and brons it remain a favorite people seeking a strong guard dog, as well as a police dog.

    Labrador Retriever

    Labrador Retriever doesn't have the size of the Rottweiler or German Shepherd, but they are intelligent with a great sense of smell. They were first used as guns dogs. It wasn't until the breed gained popularity during the Post WWII era that they where used as scent dogs for law inforcement.

    Golden Retriever

    Golden Retriever was bred to be loyal, kind, spirited and energetic, with a love for the water. Although this breed is known mostly used as a family pet it isn't uncommon for for law inforcement to use them as as bomb dogs or trackers.

    Bloodhound

    Bloodhounds are one of the oldest breed out there. They have a legendary sense of smell. They were are believed to be used as tracker dogs as far back as 3rd century A.D.. Their sense of smell is so good at that evidence trailed by a Bloodhound has been accepted in a court of law.
