It is typically the women in the television or videos or movies who are shown to shop till they drop. But, in reality the term shop till you drop is not just related to women anymore. In fact it is also the men who are said to be drawn to compulsive shopping. It obviously isn’t a good thing if you see a man shopping endlessly on his holidays instead to going out with friends or playing. When a man shops endlessly, then he is said to be suffering from a disorder known as the compulsive shopping disorder.
Compulsive shopping disorder can be characterized by the senseless or irresistible urge of purchasing goods. Men suffering from such condition are said to go on shopping bingeing and collect tons of unnecessary products which he may not require. Recent studies have proved that American men between 2 and 16 percent are suffering from compulsive buying disorder. Though the percentage of women is slightly on a higher scale, but men too aren’t far away. Simply put, of the 2, 513 people surveyed, 6 percent women and 5.5 percent men were compulsive buyers.
The factors that may lead to compulsive shopping in men is depression, boredom, or matters related to emotional distress such as break up of relationship, these are some of the major set offs that add the spark to shop. As per a study, it has also been found that shopping acts as a sort of euphoria, excitement and surely takes them high and away from all the grievances and problems. Though the initiation here is with regards to the content feeling that shopping delivers but later what follows is the guilt related towards wasting money or increase in debt.
The major sign of compulsive buyers is that they spend a lot of money during their bad or depressed periods. The best part of such buyers is that their wardrobe may be full of clothes which may have never been worn but what pinches the most is when the compulsive buyers sometimes disposes of the new clothes that have never been worn.

These therapists and practitioners identify the problem whether it is emotional or psychological. Accordingly they suggest a suitable treatment to a man who is suffering from compulsive shopping syndrome.
