You can find heaps of definitions of the “badass” on the Internet – in one of the dictionaries, badass is a person with an extreme attitude, mannerism and image, who everywhere and always instills awe.
You can also consider “badass” as a person with “short fuse and belicose attitude.” Sometimes word badass is used ironically in order to emphasise positive traits in person which don’t have them.
People who are ignominiously considered to be “badasses” are those who consider themselves prettiest, strongest and generally the best. They usually spend a lot of time in the gym and religiosly follow professional wrestling.
Not even girls are imune to this nowadays. They are extremely pretty (in their own words), have generous cleavage, freshly tanned even during winter months, stilted on high heels and projecting an image of adult version of high school bad girls.
However as you can presume already, they don’t have anything on the real badasses. Compare them to the real ones would be as if comparing P. Diddy and Clint Eastwood.
Being a “badass” is not related to machism. Real “badass” is defined by values such as responsibility, justice, honor, compassion, humility(when it is time for that), integrity and selfawareness, which automatically disqualifies all selfproclaimed “badasses.”
Badass is not ashamed to do dirty jobs, jobs that other people don’t want to do, things you must no matter how difficult they are do without lamentation and complaining.
Badasses never take the easy way. They always stand for weak and oppressed, tell truth and call out liers, cheaters and stealers...
You could probably never recognize some real badasses. However, if you think about it, you will realise that they are parents working on two jobs in order to provide better for their family, employers who are more caring for their employees then about profit, some person who fought cancer and won and you see her smiling everyday...
Batman is a badass not because he is rich, handsome and mysterious but because he suffered in life and dedicated himself to pursuing justice. Angelina Jolie is a badass because she made her character of Lara Croft come true in real life, doing her peacemaking and philantropic mission as a UN Goodwill Ambassador.
Man who stood alone in front of the tanks on Tiananmen Square in 1989 was a badass.
Those are the badasses, awesome, cool, tight, hardcases who you don’t need Google to tell you about. There are still plenty of them on this world and they are worth more than all other “badasses.”
